Summary: Responsible for planning and implementing the daily classroom lesson plans and ensuring the health and safety of children in the classroom by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Plans and prepares lesson plans, and submits to Director on a weekly Basis.
2. Oversees and facilitates the general health and safety of the classroom environment and
activities.
3. Organizes the classroom to maximize opportunities for instruction.
4. Circulates among students, provides frequent individual attention; corrects children
behavior in a positive and timely manner.
5. Interacts with children through instructional methods to include play, music, arts and
crafts, reading, writing, computer and physical activities.
6. Assists children when necessary to enhance learning skills and complete projects.
7. Monitor the talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies or problems of each
individual child, and documents evaluations on a weekly basis.
8. Promotes and fosters each child’s positive self-esteem and individual development
toward their fullest potential in the areas of physical, social, emotional and cognitive
growth.
9. Prepares thorough evaluations and assessments for each child on a yearly basis or as
needed.
10. Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all children, parents/
guardians and fellow staff.
11. Assists children with general hygiene practices including tooth brushing, bathroom and
cleanliness needs.
12. Establishes a nap time routine to include creating a relaxing environment.
13. Maintains written documentation of each child’s daily activities to include daily
activities, diapering, feeding and sleeping habits and forwards reports to parents/
guardians.
14. Completes accurate attendance sheets and food program forms daily.
15. Follow the medication policy.
16. Washes and disinfects children’s toys daily and more often as needed (after they have
been in a child’s mouth.)
17. Shares pertinent information, suggestions or ideas with co-workers on a regular basis.
18. Supervises daily activities of Assistant Early Childhood Teachers.
19. Documents daily activities of children on appropriate paperwork.
20. Completes appropriate paperwork to place orders for supplies in a timely manner.
21. Attends in-service training, conferences, staff meetings and parent/guardian meetings as
required.
22. Performs general cleaning duties as necessary.
23. Maintains equipment and materials in safe and efficient manner.
24. Maintains classroom and storage areas in a neat and orderly manner.
25. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:
A degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Must have four (4) three hours of college courses with one being Intro to ECE 101 or ECE 103. As an Early Childhood Teacher, it is required that you have Twenty-four (24) months (3,640 hours) of experience working with children under the age of six (6) years of age not related to the individual.
