Smart from the Start: Critical Connections that Maximize Children’s Potentials
Janet Humphreys
Janet Humphryes is currently the Early Childhood Specialist for Head Start in Colorado, assisting nearly 40 programs in attaining higher levels of quality for children and families. She is a community college adjunct faculty member teaching early childhood course work, and a child development consultant presenting seminars locally, regionally, and nationally to those in the early childhood profession. Janet is a nationally and internationally published author, having co-written two books on early childhood guidance strategies, and written in numerous national journals on early development topics. For over 30 years, Janet has worked with children from birth to age 12, owned, opened and directed early education schools of 15-600 children, and effected change in Denver’s culture of poverty through her efforts in low-income, high-risk neighborhoods. As an active children’s advocate, she continues to serve on numerous state task forces representing young children’s needs. Janet has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, an undergraduate degree in Behavioral Sciences, and an international AMI Montessori teaching credential.
